ART DIRECTION, DESIGN

I had the pleasure of designing this symbol for RUVLO, a talented DJ and producer, as a component of his visual identity. Initially tasked with working up a design that would adorn the back of a rendered spider for an upcoming EP artwork, I began with a session of sketching with webs and black widow spiders as my primary inspiration.

Having drawn on elements of nature and the aesthetic of spider webs, I curated a group of concept selects to be meticulously vectorized. After a few rounds of tweaks and additional exploration we landed on a select.

The symbol made its debut in 2022 on the cover of RUVLO's Chaos EP, released on Kannibalen Records. Since its inception, the icon logo has evolved into an integral element of the RUVLO brand. From cover artwork and live visuals to show flyers, merchandise, and even RUVLO's signature green ski mask, the icon has proved to be a strong and versatile mark that has become a defining symbol of RUVLO's artistic persona.
